The Broncos will sign wide receiver Thayer Thomas to the practice squad after releasing cornerback Quinton Newsome on Tuesday, a source told The Denver Gazette.

Thomas, who worked out Tuesday with Denver, spent the past two seasons on the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad after being undrafted out of North Carolina State in 2023. He did not get into any regular-season games.

Thomas is expected to sign Wednesday and then practice with the Broncos. He spent six seasons at North Carolina State. appearing in games in the last five. He caught 215 passes for 2,484 yards in 62 college games from 2018-22.

The Broncos on Tuesday released Newsome from the practice squad. Newsome had spent last season on Denver's practice squad and signed a futures deal in January. He was waived Aug. 26 and signed
