Mamdani leads in the polls , ahead of opponents, Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa and independent candidates Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Eric Adams . The Democratic socialist candidate is campaigning on issues like freezing apartment rent, government-run grocery stores, and free buses.
