KENNESAW, Ga. — A new change is coming to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park next year.
According to a spokesperson for the National Parks Service, cars will no longer be able to travel up the access road to the top of the mountain.
The change was supposed to happen this past June, but was delayed.
The National Parks Service cited safety concerns following near misses between cars, cyclists and pedestrians.
Officials added that they are restriping to create a pedestrian lane in October.
For those who need to use a vehicle to access the top of the mountain, a shuttle will be available daily and run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There will also be limited access for bikes, and they will only be allowed during early morning and evening hours.
