A United States House of Representatives committee has released over 33,000 pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Epstein, who died by suicide in prison in 2019, has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories, particularly among supporters of former President Donald Trump.
A recent poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos indicated that a significant number of Americans, including many Trump supporters, believe the government is concealing information about Epstein's case.
The documents made public on Tuesday primarily consist of court records and previously disclosed information. This release comes as Republican leadership seeks to quell a bipartisan effort by some lawmakers to push for a vote on the Epstein matter.
Democratic Representative Jim McGovern of Massachusetts criticized the release, stating, "Nearly everything Republicans just supposedly 'released' … has already been released."
The ongoing scrutiny of Epstein's case continues to raise questions about accountability and transparency in high-profile legal matters.
