Roman Anthony took a swing on a strikeout in the bottom of the fourth inning and immediately grabbed at his lower left back. He went down the tunnel upon returning to the dugout, was quickly followed by his concerned buddy Marcelo Mayer, and did not come back out for the fifth inning. Here’s what it looked like:

Update: The word from the club as of the seventh inning is “left oblique tightness,” which is not the news I wanted to hear given how hard that injury can be to shake.

At this point, it seems like a given Anthony won’t play on Wednesday with the off day on Thursday, and unfortunately, missing just one game seems like the best case scenario.
