BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Drago’s is back in Baton Rouge, and this time, owner Tommy Cvitanovich said it feels back at home.

Cvitanovich cut the ribbon on Tuesday on the restaurant’s new location at Perkins Rowe, surrounded by family and friends. He said bringing back the family atmosphere is the most important part of reopening.

“The first time around, you know, three weeks after we opened, we got hit with COVID,” Cvitanovich said. “After that, we just never really recovered. It was hard. The hotels that we expected so much from—unfortunately, their occupancy rates were so low. It was hard.”

The restaurant previously considered the new location, Cvitanovich said, but at the time it didn’t fit the business model. Now, he said, it’s perfect.
