JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — A member of the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame has passed away.

Mark J. Finucane, of Buffalo, NY passed away on August 31 at the age of 68.

Finucane was born in South Buffalo, but made his waves in the high-school cross-country scene during his time at Sr. Francis High School in Athol Springs. He was named All-Western New York in 1972 and 1973, and All-New York State in 1973. Finucane still holds a record at Delaware Park Lake, which he set in 1973.

After his high school highlights, Finucane took his talents to East Tennessee State University (ETSU), where he achieved NCAA All-American honors three times, and was named the Ohio Valley Athlete of the Year in 1977.
