WILLIAMSPORT — Whether a Williamsport man charged in a 2023 case involving a homicide was properly given his Miranda rights has been raised by the defense.

Davere Andre McClain, 52, in a pre-trial omnibus motion filed in Lycoming County court, contends that when he was given his Miranda rights last April 4, following his arrest, he was not advised he was a suspect in a homicide.

Deputy chief public defender Matthew B. Welickovitch claims that when his client asked why troopers wanted to question him, he was told it was not a big deal and his name had come up in an investigation.
