KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville city councilmembers voted 6-2 on Tuesday night to postpone a final vote on the proposed sale of the Midway section of Chilhowee Park to Emerald Youth Foundation for four more weeks.

Councilwoman Gwen McKenzie had sought a delay. McKenzie, who represents the Sixth District, held a community meeting in August that neighbors from East Knoxville flocked to.

Leaders said that two more meetings related to the proposal, one hosted by city officials, the other by leaders of Emerald Youth Foundation, are being planned for as early as Sept. 8-9, respectively. Details appeared to still be in the works.
