NEWBURYPORT — The CHALK Gallery is hosting a poetry reading on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m., at 3 Harris St., Newburyport, based on the wire sculpture "Mermaid's Wisdom," by Asia Scudder.

Prospective poets are asked to the visit the gallery through Sept. 14 to view the sculpture and then respond to what they see. Their results will be then read out loud during the Sept. 14 event.
