A brush fire stemming from a vehicle engulfed in flames in the Hollywood Hills burned a quarter-acre and threatened homes before being stopped Tuesday evening.
Firefighters responded to the 2100 block of Sunset Plaza Drive to reports of fire burning uphill at approximately 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
Crews discovered after further investigation that a vehicle was on fire, with flames burning through medium-heavy brush uphill toward a hillside home, Lantz said.
Aerial footage depicted the fire threatening several structures, but it was stabilized as crews worked diligently to fully contain the fire using both air and ground resources, according to Lantz.
It took approximately 80 firefighters to extinguish the fast-growing fire.
