Drivers in parts of the West Midlands could soon face fines over newly-enforced traffic powers.

Councils have been invited to apply for new powers to punish motorists over traffic offences.

These are errors drivers likely get away with at the moment due to a lack of enforcement by police.

Several councils have confirmed their intention to begin enforcement in problem locations, with new cameras to go up to monitor traffic.

Offences local authorities are keen to crack down on include stopping in yellow box junctions, banned turns and no entry and no stopping zones.

Some councils have been granted the powers by the Government and are now drawing up plans for enforcement
