A dad from East Kilbride who saved the life of a stranger with blood cancer has received a heartfelt thank-you letter years later.
Graeme Thomson, 42, is a dad of three girls and works as a project manager at a construction company. A few years ago, he decided to join the stem cell donor register and ordered a swab kit in the post.
Less than a year later, he received a call from blood cancer charity, DKMS . They were reaching out to tell him that a patient was undergoing treatment, and he was their stem cell match.
Graeme said: “Honestly, I barely remember signing up. I’m not sure what prompted it, but it seemed to be a very easy process, and I knew that if there was ever someone who needed me, I’d be happy to help.”
