The St. Joseph County prosecutor said a plea deal will not be finalized with a 22-year-old woman charged with killing her child until a polygraph examination is completed.

Prosecutor Deborah Davis said Paige Bohne pleaded no contest in July to first-degree child abuse and assault with intent to do bodily harm in the Nov. 7 death of her 2-year-old daughter, Octavia.

First-degree child abuse is a life felony where the court can sentence the defendant to any prison term up to life. The second charge, often called felonious assault, has a maximum sentence of 10 years.

As part of the plea agreement, charges of felony-murder and conspiracy to commit child abuse will be dismissed, but only after Bohne gives truthful testimony about what happened.
