An Augusta County man who authorities say had thousands of inappropriate images of children on his electronic devices has pleaded guilty to 33 counts of possessing child pornography.

Rodney Ray Wood, a 49-year-old resident of Lyndhurst, is to be sentenced Dec. 18 after pleading guilty last Thursday in Augusta County Circuit Court.

Special prosecutor Joe Perry said investigators with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office were tipped off about Wood's images by his girlfriend in April. After they obtained a search warrant, they found thousands of images of young children nude and engaging in sex acts with adults on a laptop and two external hard drives, Perry said.

Perry said Wood admitted to investigators that he owned the devices.
