The cannon at Canvas Stadium will be fired multiple times Sept. 3 while undergoing certification by Colorado State University’s Army ROTC program, university officials said on social media.

Three rounds will be fired at 10 a.m. and a fourth round will be fired between 5 and 5:30 p.m., according to a Sept. 2 post from the CSU Police Department and Public Safety Team’s official X account .

The cannon is a 75-mm field gun known as “Comatose,” according to Source , an online publication of CSU’s marketing and communications team. It was given to CSU’s ROTC program by the U.S. Army in 1952.

“Comatose” is fired multiple times on CSU football game days, continuing a tradition that began more than 100 years ago . CSU's first home football game for the 2025 season is at 5 p.m. Saturday.
