Jeremy Lin is stepping away from the court.

After spending nine seasons in the NBA followed by a few years playing professionally in China and Taiwan, the basketball star shared that he’s beginning a new chapter in his life.

“As athletes, we are always aware that the possibility of retirement is never far away,” Jeremy wrote on Instagram Aug. 30. “I’ve spent my 15 year career knowing that one day I would have to walk away, and yet actually saying goodbye to basketball today has been the hardest decision I’ve ever made.”

The 37-year-old, who became known for his seven-game win streak with the New York Knicks in 2012 dubbed “Linsanity,” went on to reflect on the memories he’s made and the people he’s had the pleasure of meeting throughout his career.
