ELKHORN, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day in 2016, hundreds of people came together to celebrate the birthday of Lane Graves with a balloon release.

In the summer of 2016, the two-year-old was killed by an Alligator on the property of Walt Disney World.

Graves was playing on the edge of a lagoon.

Because of Graves’ death, Disney made a number of changes to its resorts.

His parents also created the Lane Thomas Foundation to support families suffering through tragedy, and helping families of children who need life-saving transplants.
