In a major blow to millions of holidaymakers, Ryanair announced it will cancel flights from Tenerife North and Vigo later this year. The budget airline also confirmed it will close its base in Santiago as it continues its Spanish airport cull.
Last month, Ryanair announced plans to reduce routes to and from Spain , confirming it would remove a million seats in the upcoming winter season schedule. The wide-scale cuts have been blamed on Spain's airport operator, Aena, which announced it wants to increase passenger fees by 6.5% next year.
