GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — A Grand Rapids Township massage therapist pleaded guilty to an assault charge after a patient reported him for inappropriate behavior, the Kent County Sheriff's Office says.
A claim by a patient spurred an investigation into Dana Piper, a 63-year-old man from Southfield, in early 2024.
Investigators determined Piper was apparently removing sheets covering the patient unnecessarily and touching body parts inconsistent with massage therapy during sessions.
Piper also recommended “pelvic floor therapy,” which the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has stated is not permitted for massage therapists, deputies say.
