A mule deer fawn was shot with an arrow in the hindquarters about a week ago and left to waste on the property of the Billings Rod and Gun Club archery range.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks warden Courtney Tyree said the club's staff noticed the smell of decomposition and discovered the deer on Sept. 2. The property is about a mile west of the airport.
