Chatham Maroons head coach and general manager Brennan Feasey is a Finns fan.

He quickly signed two Finnish players – defenceman Jacob Ronnqvist and goalie Viljami Kukkola – after having them out for a few skates recently.

“They had a couple different offers, I think, out in our league,” Feasey said. “It ended up Chatham was the place they wanted to be. They know that we’ve got a good winning culture here and they’re going to help us try to win another championship this year.”

Both were scheduled to be in the Maroons’ lineup for Wednesday’s pre-season visit to the LaSalle Vipers in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. It would be the first game for Kukkola and the second for Ronnqvist.
