The Republican Party’s recent crusade against Covid-19 vaccine mandates has, rather predictably , begun to ensnare other vaccines.

Even as US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has ramped up a hostile takeover of federal vaccine policy , Florida on Wednesday took an unprecedented step: It became the first state to move to eliminate all vaccine requirements .

In making the announcement, Florida’s vaccine-skeptic Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo likened each of those mandates to “slavery.”
