A Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office detective says she was unjustly forced from her job after surreptitiously informing the family of a homicide victim of alleged malfeasance by colleagues.

Brittany Aspromonti says in a civil lawsuit filed last week that she suffered from an escalating series of retaliatory acts and was effectively terminated in late 2024 after leaving her off-duty weapon in a museum’s bathroom.

The suit, filed in late August in Superior Court of Mercer County, seeks damages under the state’s Conscientious Employee Protection Act, often called a whistleblower suit.
