ALABASTER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Dozens of neighborhood roads in Alabaster are getting a $1 million facelift to fix pesky potholes and years of wear and tear.
Alabaster announced it will spend $1.7 million to repave around 25 streets primarily in subdivisions. The work has already begun along Fifth Avenue Southeast near the ALDI grocery store.
“The city’s experienced a lot of growth and honestly traffic is one of our highest priorities in the city right now,” said Fred Hawkins, the Director of Infrastructure and Public Services for the city.
Hawkins said crews are being intentional.
The city hired an outside firm to evaluate all the roads, give them a score, then put that data into a computer to create a strategic plan.
