Showing off sparkly new backpacks, embracing old friends, fist bumping school staff and shedding a few tears: these were the sights on the first day of school for Eugene School District 4J and Springfield Public Schools.

All three Eugene-Springfield metro school districts have started classes as of Sept 3 . 4J had kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade start classes and SPS had grades 1-6, 9 and half of kindergarten start classes. Bethel School District started classes on Sept. 2 . All grades in all three districts are in school starting on Sept. 4.
