Maine high school fall sports kick off their regular season this week and the Penobscot Valley girls soccer team is ready to defend their state title.
After beating the Bucksfield Bucks in a close matchup in last years state championship game, the Howlers are looking to reach their fourth straight state title game this season, but will have to do so without the help of their star senior class from one season ago.
Howlers' head coach Jeremy Durost says despite losing the talent that helped bring Penobscot Valley a title last season, he remains confident that this years squad can live up to the same expectations.
"A lot of our core players have been doing this for four years and they know how to win," said Durost. "We use a saying a lot, iron sharpens iron. You talk about replacing player
