The San Francisco Giants are set to lose Matt Chapman after the third baseman was suspended for a push during Tuesday’s bench-clearing incident against the Colorado Rockies.
MLB announced Wednesday that Chapman received a one-game suspension for shoving Rockies starter Kyle Freeland as both teams ran onto the field.
Chapman chose to appeal the decision, so the discipline will not be handed down until that process is complete.
Freeland, Chapman and Giants shortstop Willy Adames were all ejected from the game after the Rockies southpaw took exception to Rafael Devers admiring a home run in the top of the first inning.
MLB also announced that Freeland, Adames and Devers received undisclosed fines for their roles on the play.
