KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - On Wednesday morning, friends, family and fellow officers remembered the life of Hunter Simoncic and said their final goodbyes.
His funeral took place at Children’s Mercy Park, the procession followed shortly afterwards, giving the whole community a chance to pay their respects.
“His presence brought encouragement, laughter and strength,” said Kyle Hickerson, President of the Fraternal Order of Police.
“There will never be another Hunter, he was one of a kind,” said Pastor George Kemper, who was at the hospital with Hunter and his family.
He was a son, a brother, a friend and as many described him, a hero & protector whose dream was to become a police officer.
“This wasn’t just a career to him; he genuinely wanted to create change to the world,” said Sarah L
