HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Gov. Josh Green met Pope Leo XIV during his recent visit to the Vatican.

During that meeting, Green reportedly extended an invitation to the pontiff to visit Kalaupapa.

Green hopes the potential visit is seen as a chance to meet our people and work together for peace.

The Governor is scheduled to return to Hawaii on Sunday.
