For many 90s babies north of the river, Morley’s Greater Union Cinemas was the go-to school holiday hangout, a weekend escape, or simply a guilt-free opportunity to get your monthly lolly fix in one sitting.

But after more than 30 years, the doors to the once-mighty movie institution will sadly be closing.

Operators of the cinemas broke the news to loyalty members via a letter, according to ABC Perth.

“After many wonderful years bringing movie magic to the big screen, we are sad to announce that Greater Union Morley will be closing its doors,” the letter read.“Greater Union Morley has been a much-loved part of the community and we’re grateful to everyone who’s shared their movie moments with us.”
