CHEYENNE — A Laramie County District Court jury found a local man guilty of turning on law enforcement with a baseball bat on Wednesday, the second day of his trial.

Ronald Andrew Romero was tried and found guilty of two counts of felony aggravated assault and battery with threat to use a deadly weapon for attacking Cheyenne Police officers with a baseball bat, a knife and a club on April 17, 2024.

The trial included a “habitual criminal” enhancement within Romero’s charges, making both counts of aggravated assault and battery punishable by life in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

The jury did find Romero to be a “habitual criminal,” based on his three previous felony convictions.
