Carjacker in ski mask strikes downtown DC then flees toward H Street
Washington, DC – A carjacking late Monday night in the heart of downtown DC has prompted a citywide alert as police search for a masked suspect who fled on foot after abandoning the stolen vehicle several blocks away.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 800 block of 7th Street NW, according to the Metropolitan Police Department’s 1st District. The suspect, described as a Black male with a slim build, was wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing when he approached the victim and forcibly took their vehicle.
Shortly after the carjacking, the vehicle was reportedly spotted in the 600 block of H Street NW, where it may have been ditched or relocated. Police units responded swiftly, canvassing the area
