Amtrak has been a staple of the United States since 1971, with routes connecting some of the most exciting destinations across the country. Despite their prominence as a method of public transit in the U.S., this traveler was relatively unversered in the world of Amtrak travel.
That all changed Labor Day weekend, when I decided to take Amtrak's California Zephyr from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Well, Amtrak didn't exactly drop me at the gates, but it took me to the charming, train-obsessed town of Granby , Colorado just 20 minutes away.
From finding the station to enjoying the ride itself, taking the Amtrak to America's fifth-busiest national park was easier than expected, and helped me save my energy for Rocky Mountain itself.
