PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Capitol City starts prepping for PVDFest today.

Road closures start Thursday morning and this afternoon, city leaders will celebrate the festival’s return.

The two-day festival will return to Kennedy Plaza for the second year.

Today, Mayor Brett Smiley and organizers of the event will discuss the music, dance, food and art experiences festival goers can expect.

That press conference begins at 12:45 this afternoon, with the actual fest kicking off Friday at 4:45 in the afternoon.

Keep in mind, parking bans and road closures will be in effect starting today.

Starting this hour, there will be no parking on Fulton Street, from Memorial Boulevard to Exchange Street nor on Exchange Terrace from the east approach to Exchange Street.
