DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur woman has entered a plea deal after two dogs were found dead in her home.

Angela Powell, 28, was arrested along with Race Chapman, 24, on May 29 . Decatur police were originally called to the home in the 1000 block of West Decatur St. for a reported burglary.

Police found two dead dogs in the house. They died from traumatic neck injuries.

According to a sworn statement of their arrest, two huskies, Thor and Butterball, were left on their leash for an extended period. Both dogs later died.

The suspects told police the dogs were killed during "a break-in," but police said evidence shows the dogs had been living in poor conditions for some time.
