A 23-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday after a fiery crash near 71st and Yale, according to Tulsa police.

Officers responded around 4:50 p.m. Sept. 3 to the scene at 7100 S. Canton Ave., where the motorcyclist was pinned under another vehicle after the crash.

"Witnesses said the motorcycle was driving recklessly on 71st, weaving in and out of traffic, performing wheelies and speeding," police said Thursday.

When a vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle, the rider reportedly laid the bike down on its side before it collided with a vehicle, causing the gas tank to catch fire.

The motorcyclist, identified by police as 23-year-old Ashton Meyer, ended up pinned under another vehicle. Meyer was transported to a local hospital, where he
