The crash happened near the intersection with Williamsburg Road around 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the pedestrian, a man who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drivers are advised to find alternate routes, as South Laburnum Avenue is shut down in the area of the crash. Detours are in place as follows:

Williamsburg Road (west) at Oakleys Lane & Eubank Road

S. Laburnum Ave at Finley Street & Eubank Road

Henrico police spokesperson Karina Bolster said detours are expected to be in effect through Thursday evening rush hour.
