NEWPORT—Morristown East remained unbeaten with a straight-set volleyball victory over winless Cocke County Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Hurricanes overcame a slow start to register their fourth win by capturing a 25-17, 25-19, 25-13 triumph over the Lady Red. It was the third District Two 3-A win for coach Leslie Clemmons’ club.

Cocke County fell to 0-9 for the season and 0-4 in district action.

Clemmons said, “It wasn’t very pretty but it was still a win and any road victory in the district is a big one.

“I thought we got off to a very slow start,” she added. “For some reason we didn‘t come out ready to play. I’ve stressed to the girls that we have to get off a good start in any match regardless of who we’re playing. You have to come out ready to execute.
