CHICAGO (AP) - The Trump administration has informed local officials that its promised immigration enforcement surge in Chicago will operate seven days a week for about six weeks, according to the mayor of a suburb that houses an immigration processing center.

Mayor Katrina Thompson said in a letter to the village’s roughly 8,000 residents this week that the Trump administration told Broadview officials that a two-story building used to temporarily hold immigrants before they’re detained or deported will serve as the "primary processing location" for the expected operation.

She said local leaders were told the operation will operate continuously for approximately 45 days, but she didn’t say when it might start.
