Australia's Ashes and T20 World Cup 2026 preparations have taken a blow with Pat Cummins set to miss white-ball series against New Zealand and India due to lumbar bone stress.

Whilst clear of stress fractures, the Australian Test captain will continue a rehabilitation plan after complaining of back soreness following his side's successful tour of the West Indies , and remains no guarantee to feature in the first Ashes Test against England on November 21.

The Aussie skipper however, is confident he can return to action come the Perth Test without much game practice under his belt.

"I'm never going to go into a Test match unless you think you can finish the Test match," Cummins told cricket.com.au.
