Hampton Roads Greenbook has launched Black September, a monthlong campaign to encourage people to patronize three featured restaurants in each city.
It so happens this month coincides with the one-year anniversary for the local Greenbook , a website and mobile app that spotlights Black-owned businesses. And the event aligns with Greenbook’s mission to increase the number of resources circulating in the Black community and showcase small businesses in the region.
Seko Varner, founder of the Greenbook, selected some of his favorite restaurants and places he’s eager to try from the directory — a total of 24. Diners are urged to leave a review on the eatery’s Greenbook profile page after their visit.
