Tenerife is in the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, 322 km (200 miles) from the coast of West Africa, with excellent weather year-round. The island, which is the largest of the Canary Islands, is relatively small at 2034 square kilometres (786 square miles), making it easy to see most of the island by car. Residents of the island speak Spanish, however, most will also speak English, particularly in more touristy areas.

The island has a range of landscapes consisting of lush beaches, deserts, humid rainforests and volcanic landscapes. Tenerife’s volcanic landscapes have featured in movies, including Star Wars, Fast & Furious 6 and Clash of the Titans. Tenerife is home to many fiestas, with the majority in the summer months.
