A Trades Explorer Program delivered out of Esquimalt is paving the way for youth in marginalized communities, including newcomers, to build essential career skills.

“This program is about opening doors,” said Oneil Randall, founder and executive director of Fusion Rise, which runs the program. “Many young people don’t have the chance to explore careers in the trades until much later. We’re giving them that head start, hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure, so they can see the opportunities available and build confidence in themselves.”

The first official cohort launched this September, offering six weeks of skill-building designed to ignite interest in multiple trades, while teaching teamwork, problem-solving and leadership.
