By Claudia Lorena Silva, El Paso Matters Ysleta Independent School District Trustee Kathryn Lucero will be leaving the board next week to move out of state, having served for over eight years. “An unexpected opportunity in Maine has presented itself, and after much reflection, I have decided to take this next step in my journey,” Lucero said in a statement to El Paso Matters.
“Leaving El Paso and this role is not easy. YISD will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve. It has truly been an honor,” she added. The YISD school board is scheduled to meet Wednesday, Sept. 10 to accept Lucero’s resignation, effective Sept. 11.
