A Clayton man is dead following a motorcycle crash in the Smyrna area early Friday morning.
Delaware State Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that the 59-year-old motorcyclist lost control on a curve on Smyrna-Leipsic Road east of Big Oak Road, left the roadway, traveled into a ditch and struck a culvert pipe. The man died after being taken to a hospital.
Smyrna-Leipsic Road was closed for an extended period of time due to the crash and investigation.
