Jarreth Plunkett, the teen who stabbed Bobby Maher in April 2024, was sentenced to life in prison by Judge Catherine Wilking in district court Friday morning.
In sum, Plunkett, 16, got life in prison for the murder charge and 9-10 years in prison on a charge of aggravated assault and battery.
“Stabbing someone to death is the most cowardly thing I can imagine,” Wilking said before imposing the sentence. “They could have duked it out at the mall ... That’s how we used to do it back in my day.”
Wilking imposed the sentence in accordance with state statute and a plea deal between the defense and prosecution.
