Virginia Carlson of Sioux City will celebrate her 80th birthday on Sept. 8.

Virginia was born Sept. 8, 1945, in Sioux Falls. She dedicated 34 years to teaching English at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls.

Remembered for her quick wit, passion for writing and literature, and her love for teaching, Virginia left a lasting mark on countless students. After retiring, Virginia moved to Sioux City, where she enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with her family. To her loved ones, she is affectionately known as Grandma Ginia. Her family invites friends and former students to join in celebrating this special milestone.
