CORALVILLE — Iowa volleyball head coach Jim Barnes predicted 2025 would be a record-breaking season for the Hawkeyes. It only took five games for the Hawkeyes to start writing their names in the program’s record books.

With five consecutive wins to open the season, including a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 27-25) win over Illinois State on Friday night, Iowa got off to its best start since 2016. A win over Loyola Chicago on Saturday would put the Hawkeyes in rarified air, matching their best starts in program history (2009, 1988 and 1978.)
