In 1924, this news organization established a nonprofit to help Delawareans in times of need. After more than a century in operation − and as donations dwindled due to donors finding new and more direct ways to donate to their chosen causes − the Needy Family Fund is coming to close.

Delaware Online/The News Journal is distributing the remaining funds to the Food Bank of Delaware, as federal cutbacks are expected to create more demand on the agency.
